Leticia’s Hope

Hello!  Thank you for visiting “Leticia’s Hope”.  I believe there’s a reason you are here. I’d like to say “it’s meant to be”, but let’s just see what happens.

Three things that pretty much make up who I am: Faith, Family, and Spirit.”

My husband and I have been married for over 23 years.  He’s the love of my life.  We have 3 girls (Katrina, Amanda, and Brianna) and two furry pups (Apollo and April).  I have several nieces and nephews that are also a big part of my life.  They all mean the world to me.  It is my family and the special bond we share that fills my heart with love and pushes me forward.

You just don’t know when or how.  You may ask yourself at times, ‘how can I better prepare myself to walk this journey of life when difficult challenges arise?  Can I face them alone? Can I get through it? Will having faith within be enough?’ These are questions I’ve encountered in my life, and this leads me to why I have created Leticia’s Hope.

“My life had been completely turned upside down within minutes.”

I started Leticia’s Hope to honor 9 of my family members that tragically passed on Christmas Eve 2008.  I lost them to an evil act of violence that has forever changed my life.  I and 24 other family members were at my parents home celebrating our annual Christmas Eve party in Covina, California. My sister’s ex-husband disguised as Santa Claus entered the home with semi-automatic weapons and an incendiary device in order to destroy everyone and everything he could.  He killed my mother, father, two sisters, two brothers, two sisters-in-law, and nephew.  My older daughter (8 yrs old at the time) suffered a gunshot wound to the face and one of my nieces suffered a gunshot wound to her lower back.  Thankfully, they escaped with the rest of us and recovered from their physical wounds.  My parents’ home of 27 years, the home I grew up in and where much joy came from, was destroyed by the explosion and inferno.  My life had been completely turned upside down within minutes.  Thirteen of my nieces and nephews lost either one or both parents.  I suddenly became the only surviving child of Alicia and Joseph’s 5 children and the matriarch of the family.  I was forced to take on a role I never expected.

Leticia’s Hope

After experiencing such devastating loss and trauma, I have managed to move forward and overcome.  My journey of faith, love, support, and healing are what have brought me to the HOPE I am able to pass on to others.  I believe this a big part of my life purpose.  By sharing stories with you that matter most to me, I hope I can bring you a new perspective on life.  I would like to have an opportunity to touch your life in a positive way by blogging about stories of healing, love, family, faith, and other real life
stuff.  I would love to bring some light into your life or maybe just food for thought.  This is what I feel I have been guided to do.

It is my calling. My mission!

May Leticia’s Hope bring you renewed strength and positive meaning so that you will always have great HOPE in your life and in the lives of others.

Love and Blessings,

Leticia
